Let’s face it. Most of us are spending long hours isolated in our homes during the Covid pandemic. I, for one, have seen a drastic change in my wardrobe rotation! Jeans, skirts, and blouses have taken a back seat to pajamas, sweats and comfortable footwear.
Shuffling from my couch to the fridge and back to the couch one night, I realized I was tired of sliding all over my hardwood floors. My slippers felt awkward, bulky, slippery and my feet were roasting! I prefer to be barefoot but in the dead of winter, I just can’t do it. If my feet are cold, my whole body shivers! While watching a movie filmed in a tropical location, a great idea flashed in my mind. Instead of my cumbersome slippers that I was sure were going to cause me grave injury, I thought of the Leguano sneakers I had purchased for my last vacation.
These versatile shoes were purchased strictly as water shoes. I have always been afraid of walking into the ocean and encountering slimy things beneath my feet! But I thought to myself that they would also make for great house shoes. I grabbed the box from under my bed filled with my summer items and found my Leguanos. These shoes are almost like socks that easily pull on your feet for a snug fit. The reason I pulled them out is because they have a non-marking, slip resistant sole that would be great to keep me from slipping on my floors.
The sole is so thin and flexible, you have the feeling of being barefoot. I realized that these sneaker/sock style shoes were keeping my feet toasty warm but without the gross sweating I experienced in my slippers. The expandable fabric upper let me wiggle my toes and allow my feet to breathe. They are moisture wicking, so my feet stay nice and dry. They are extremely lightweight and so comfortable that a few nights (after a couple glasses of wine) I have gone to bed forgetting I still had them on!
The fabric is antibacterial keeping these shoes smelling fresher for longer. They can be thrown in the washing machine, hung to dry quickly and keep their shape nicely; unlike my fuzzy slippers that fell apart after a few washes.
I’m so happy that I remembered my Leguano Barefoot Sneakers that were tucked away. I am glad to be getting more wear out of them and feel more sure-footed as I make my way to the fridge. 😉
